Barriendo Fantasmas
Barriendo Fantasmas is an interdisciplinary music and art project that brings together sound, image and narrative.
Founded by JoC Villaurre and Fabretes, the project grew out of roughly four years of work that passed through different names, formats and stages before settling into Barriendo Fantasmas.
The project took shape mainly through live shows in La Paz and a self-booked tour across cities in Bolivia, building a stage identity and a direct bond with its audience.
In 2026 the project became a full band with Pedro Barrios on bass and double bass, Manuel Seoane on drums and percussion, and Andrea Nagir on cello.
With Fantasma Barrientos, Barriendo Fantasmas enters a new stage: a single body of work where music, the body, image and the live experience all belong to the same universe.
Fantasma Barrientos is the debut album by Barriendo Fantasmas and an audiovisual work that reaches beyond the music.
Made up of 11 songs that work as chapters of a single narrative, the album moves between rock, folk, reggae, blues and other elements that surface organically.
The work starts from a simple gesture: sweeping. With a broom, but also as a way of clearing a path, getting something off your back and moving on. The ghosts stand for everything that piles up when it goes unsaid: anxiety, exhaustion, fears, blocks and the contradictions of the world we live in.
That narrative extends into the Video Album, a continuous audiovisual piece of about 45 minutes split into eleven chapters. They are not standalone music videos, but one visual and sensory journey alongside the music.
A work about what remains, what weighs on us and the need to make room to keep going.
Fantasma Barrientos also reaches into image. The Video Album is currently in development.
